Dominican Athletics celebrates successful fall sports seasons
Dominican Athletics hosted the Fall Athletics Awards Night on Wednesday. Athletes and their parents enjoyed a catered dinner, and coaches recapped the most successful fall sports season in recent history.
The cross country team ended the season as back to back district champions and as the 5A State Runners-Up. Three runners finished in the top ten at the state meet and the majority of the team recorded personal bests this season. Three runners were also named to the All-Metro and All-State teams.
The swim team also recorded the most successful season in recent history. The swim team finished as district champs and had a great showing at the state meet where they finished in sixth place overall.
The volleyball team finished as the 5A State Runners-Up with an overall record of 41-5.
All athletes were honored for their commitment and remarkable representation of St. Mary’s Dominican High School during the fall sports season.
The Lou Reilly Award is presented to one athlete on each team who continually tries to improve her skills and who has listened to her coaches and teammates. She is an athlete who encourages those playing while she is not in the game, and while playing herself, gives her full effort at each moment. The student athletes have a nominating vote in the selection of these awards, and the final decisions are left up to the discretion of the coaches.
