Dominican Hosts FIRST Lego League Event
St. Mary’s Dominican High School hosted a FIRST Lego League (FLL) Qualifier Competition on Saturday, November 19th with 14 participating teams from the New Orleans area. Teams were judged on their Project, Team Work Ability, Robot Design and on the missions their robot completed. Serving as judges were Dominican faculty members Shannon Hauler and Kenney Lannes, Kyle White (Jesuit faculty), Evie Vollenweider (St. Phillip of Neri faculty), Elizabeth Champagne (Dominican student), Ellie Champagne (Loyola Faculty), and Kirk Aymond (a long-time volunteer with FIRST). The Dominican FTC Robotics Team helped in multiple aspects of setting up, mentoring FLL teams, field re-setters, practice table coordinator’s, line dancing leaders, photographers, and several other assignments that have to take place in order to coordinate an event on this scale.
