Senior Payton Nunez Named A Chevron High School Scholar Athlete of the Week

Senior Payton Nunez is a Chevron High School Scholar Athlete of the Week. She was recognized at the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club’s first weekly luncheon that recognizes a female and male high school senior athlete from the Greater New Orleans area. Payton was honored alongside Jacob Latiolais of Mandeville High School.

A Eucharistic Minister, Payton maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.74. She is a member of the varsity volleyball team and participates in school intramurals. In 2014 and 2015 she was named a Lou Reilly Award winner. Her community service includes volunteering for St. Ann Bible Camp and Dominican’s Volleyball Camp. Her college plans include the pre-pharmacy studies.

Payton and other Athletes of the Week will be recognized on the field during the 2017 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on December 16th. All winners will be invited to a Pelicans basketball game where there will be a drawing for one male student and one female student to receive a $5,000 scholarship.

In support of local student-athletes pursuing higher education, Chevron is the presenting sponsor of the High School Scholar Athlete of the Week award. The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club promotes amateur and professional sports in the Greater New Orleans area on a weekly basis.
