Mu Alpha Theta officers at Club Information Day.








   
 

Members of the Mu Alpha Theta club participated in the 2009- 2010 State Convention.  The convention hosted 30 schools and over 680 students from across Louisiana competing in a variety of math competitions from Algebra II to Calculus.  The following are the results of how our students placed.

The Mu Ciphering Team consisting of Claire Fitzgerald, Chelsea Kliebert, Pere Cvitanovic, and Yoshino Sakamoto placed 4th

Alpha Ciphering, 5th place

Alpha Trigonometry Area Test:

                * Michelle Rosamond, 10th place

       * Claudine Thien, 8th place

                * Marianne Gosciniak, 2nd place

Algebra X Area Test:

                * April Miguez, 10th place

                     * Catherine Bailey, 9th place

        * Erin Fell, 5th place

                       * Corinne Duplantis, 1st place

Algebra Y Area Test:

                   * Lauren Westholz, 9th place,

               * Kaylyn Blosser, 8th place

                        * Nicole Delesdernier, 6th place

               * Michelle Recto, 4th place

Members recently attended an MAO Conference.














"Mu Alpha Theta is a National Mathematics Honor Society encompassing over 65,000 students in more than 1,400 schools. We are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students." (http://www.mualphatheta.org/) To be a member, a Dominican student must have an overall GPA of 3.5 and a GPA of 3.75 in mathematics courses. Also, she must be in Algebra II or above, and agree to perform 12 hours of service per year.
