Dominican's cheer team is composed of about twenty girls selected from a tryout program. The entire team is split into two separate squads, the Black squad and the White squad. These squads cheer for Dominican volleyball games, basketball games, and spirit assemblies. The girls practice every Monday and Wednesday from 3:40 pm to 5:00 pm, under moderator Mrs. Stewart. The girls work on cheers, dances, jumps, and stunts. The cheer season ends in the spring, in which tryouts will be held. Members who have been on the team for two years do not have to tryout a third year. Officer positions are chosen on a vote system in which the members of the team decide who receives which position. During the summer, the girls attend camp to learn new cheers, dances, and stunt formations. The girls work hard all year long to represent Dominican High School and the spirit within. |
