Applying for 8th and 9th Grade

If you attend a Catholic elementary school, you will receive the Archdiocesan Application Form from your school principal on this date. Your school principal will send us your school records, transcripts, and standardized test results.

If you do not attend a Catholic elementary school, you can obtain an Archdiocesan Application Form from Dominican High School on this date in the foyer office at the Walmsley Avenue entrance to the school or print one online at www.arch-no.org. You are responsible for obtaining the required records (grades 5 through your most current report cards, test scores, and transcripts) from your school and forwarding them to us. Please see specific instructions on the application form.

If you attend a Catholic elementary school, complete the application form you received and return it to your school principal. Your school principal will then forward your school records to Dominican.

If you do not attend a Catholic elementary school, you are to return the application form and report cards, test scores, and transcripts to Dominican according to the instructions on the application form.

January 11, 2014: Application Day / High School Placement Test
All students applying to Dominican must attend Application Day. The High School Placement Test will be administered this day – the results of which are used for High School placement only. The $20 application fee is collected at this time.

February 2014
Letters of Acceptance mailed. Acceptance to eighth or ninth grade is based on your elementary school grades, standardized test scores, and a personal interview that will take place at Dominican High School.

Pre-Applying for 9th Grade

If you choose to stay at your elementary school for 8th grade, you may pre-apply for 9th grade at Dominican as a 7th grader.

If you attend a Catholic elementary school:
Simply use the Archdiocesan Application Form distributed on November 11, 2013. Your school principal will send us your school records, transcripts, and standardized test scores.

Remember to write “Pre-Apply for Ninth Grade” in the top right hand corner of the form.

If you do not attend a Catholic elementary school:

You can pick up an Application Form at Dominican High School (in the foyer office at the Walmsley Avenue entrance to the school) or print online at www.arch-no.org starting on November 11, 2013. You are responsible for obtaining your school records and test scores from your school and forwarding them to us. There are specific instructions on the form.

Remember to write “Pre-Apply for Ninth Grade” in the top right hand corner of the form.

Frequently Asked Questions

On what is pre-acceptance based?
Pre-Acceptance is based on your elementary school grades, standardized test scores, and a personal interview that will take place at Dominican High School.

If I pre-apply, do I have to attend Application Day at Dominican?
Yes. All students requesting Pre-Acceptance are required to be present at DHS on Application Day on January 12, 2013 to take the High School Placement Test.

Do I re-submit an application in November of my 8th grade year?
Yes. Pre-Applicants MUST submit a new application form in November of their 8th grade year. Although you will not be interviewed again, your 8th grade records will be reviewed. Also, you must be present on Application Day on January 11, 2014 in order to take the High School Placement Test to help with correctly placing you in freshman classes and to ensure your eligibility for scholarships.
