May Crowning Academic Honor Day began with a beautiful May Crowning ceremony.

Seniors celebrate their final Mass together Together with the Dominican community and their families, seniors celebrated their Baccalaureate Mass at St. Dominic's Church.

Trees for Life Dominican participated in the New Orleans Children's Advocacy Center's "Trees for Life 2010" program. A tree was planted on Dominican's campus in order to raise awareness about child maltreatment in Louisiana. Pictured above is a Dominican representative at the Trees for Life Ceremony

Dominican goes green Dominican continues to make strides to go green! After monitoring and decreasing the amount of garbage collected on campus throughout the month of March, Dominican has added recycling bins to help promote our goals to "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!"

"I Thirst" In a moving portrayal of the Stations of the Cross, the Dominican community enjoyed a time to reflect together during the Lenten Assembly, themed "I Thirst."

Relay team sets a new record Congratulations to the 4 x 800 meter relay team who broke the all-time Dominican record at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Track and Field Classic with a time of 10:18.26.

Slam 'N Jam winners! Dominican wins! For the first time in Slam 'N Jam history, a girls school took home the championship banner. Congratulations to all who participated and represented Dominican!

Dominican Alumnae gather for Homecoming Weekend Dominican alumnae celebrated Homecoming Weekend with a Mass and reception on Friday followed by the 50th Annual Alumnae Homecoming Luncheon on Saturday. Special congratulations to the 2010 Alumnae Award recipients, Janice Cory Scott '70, Alumna of the Year Award, Cynthia Tschirn Nuesslein '76, Sr. Mary Angela Mulhern, O.P. Service Award, and Robin Hotard '04, Outstanding Young Alumna of the Year Award.

Lou Reilly Award Recipients The Lou Reilly Memorial Award is presented to the athlete “who continually tries to improve her skills and who has listened to her coaches and teammates. This is an athlete who encourages those playing while she is not in the game, and while playing herself, [gives] her full support at each moment.” Congratulations to these varsity basketball and soccer athletes who were selected by their teammates and coaches as the Lou Reilly Award Recipients.

Tri-M hosts lunchtime fun In celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, Tri-M Music Honor Society and the Jazz Band entertained the student body at lunch. Activities included "Pin the Note on the Staff" and "jazzy" musical chairs with live music from the Jazz Band.

Mardi Gras vs. America for Angel's Place! The E-Board kicked off Mardi Gras vs. America week in an effort to raise money for Angel's Place, the Student Council charity this year. Juniors and Seniors make up team "America" while the underclassmen represent "Mardi Gras."

Sophomores learn Six sophomores and Mrs. Barrilleaux attended a workshop sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League themed "Unity Through Understanding" where they learned how to overcome stereotypes and prejudices. In a homeroom assembly, the sophomore representatives shared what they learned at ADL with their entire class.

Dominican raises "Green" Awareness Over the course of three weeks, Dominican will monitor the amount of trash collected during the school day. Homeroom activities, announcements, and facts will motivate our school community to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Welcome, future Dominicanites! Dominican's new incoming students came to campus for a special new student orientation. They were treated to a sneak peek of the Spring Musical, CURTAINS, a fashion show of the famous Dominican uniform, and extra information and fun facts about what it means to truly experience Dominican!

Dominican helps the fight to end hunger Dominican's total donation for the Second Harvest food drive was 16,549 pounds of food, enough for 12,928 meals! Thanks to all who participated and for your spirit and commitment to helping those in need.

National Honor Society inducts new members Congratulations to Dominican's new members of the National Honor Society. NHS inducted 54 students in a special ceremony. New members were evaluated based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

Dominican senior recognized for exemplary service This Dominican senior has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President's Volunteer Service Award. This award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama.

Siemens Award for Advanced Placement Winner Congratulations to this Dominican senior who was selected as a winner of the 2009-2010 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement. Only one male and one female student in each of the 50 states are awarded this scholarship based on exceptional performance on the AP exams in math and science. Congratulations on this honor!

Helping Haiti In a project initiated by two DHS freshmen, Dominican started a collection for Catholic Relief Services,
an organization that has pledged millions to help earthquake survivors in Haiti. Over five days during lunch, Dominican has collected $1,800.

Second Lining for Spring Sports A sports assembly got the student body in Dominifan spirit! E-Board introduced the spring sports teams and everyone enjoyed performances by the band, debs, and cheerleaders. Athletes led the second line out of the gym following the assembly.

King cakes for a cause Student Council sold slices of king cake at lunch to celebrate the start of the Carnival season. All money raised will be donated to the Student Council charity for this year, Angel's Place.

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! The Dominican basketball girls travelled to Dallas, TX over the holidays to participate in the Parish Episcopal Basketball Tournament. The team enjoyed fun in the snow and brought home a second place finish!

Adopt-A-Family Dominican adopted 59 families for Christmas this year, collecting presents for more than
300 people from the Gert Town Family Center. Gifts included bicylces, books, games, and other toys!

Candy gram delivery! The National Honor Society sold candy grams to raise money for Project Fleur de Lis,a Catholic Charity. Candy grams were delivered during homeroom by NHS members dressed up like elves.

Mu Alpha Theta inducts new members Congratulations to these new MAO inductees. Mu Alpha Theta, a national mathematics honor
society, inducted 34 new members in a special ceremony.

Sudden Impact LSU, State Police, New Orleans EMS, and Coroner's Office held a mock car crash
on campus to illustrate the dangers of drinking and driving. Thanks to all who helped make the event so realistic and moving.

songs during Instant Theatre!

Mothers and daughters in style Mothers and daughters enjoyed their annual Mass, luncheon, and style show together.

Making a difference Ms. Castillo, Mrs. Chatellier, Mrs. Favre, and represenatives from the volleyball team and
Jazz Band helped present a check to East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation from all
monies raised from "Paint 'the Pitt' Pink" and "Pinktober." The donation will be directed for the
treatment and care of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Around the Globe Festival The Foreign Language Club hosted the "Around the Globe Festival" at lunch. Students performed and celebrated a variety of cultures, including an authentic Bollywood dance.

Jazz Band plays for "Pinktober" The Jazz Band performed at Hard Rock Cafe's "Pinktober" event. All monies raised will be donated to East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation, directed for the treatment and care of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are seeking medical attention at their facilities.

breakfast in Alumnae Hall.

for a group picture. Over nine days in June, they visited Spring Hill College, Emory University,
University of Georgia, University of South Carolina, Wake Forest University, Davidson College,
University of Virginia, The Catholic University of America, University of Richmond, Duke University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Elon University, and Auburn University. They also experienced Six Flags Over Georgia, Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center, a Lighted Monument Tour, a Lexington Ghost Tour, and a Durham Bulls baseball game!
