During a recent visit to New Orleans, photographer Daragh Muldowney of Dublin, Ireland, gave a presentation about his photographic work to the Sophomore class. Mr. Muldowney traveled 3,143 miles around Ireland to produce the Jewellery Box – Ireland’s Hidden Gems, a photographic exhibition that will open at the Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans on Friday, April 25, and run through May 24.
The exhibit has been shown in Dublin, Atlanta, Boston, Berlin, Dubai and Chicago. Mr. Muldowney’s visit to New Orleans is made possible through support by Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Using a 30-year-old Canon camera and a macro lens, he shot hundreds of images that capture the abstract beauty of nature in rock pools around the seventeen coastal counties of Ireland. The photographs provide art and photography enthusiasts with an opportunity to see a unique and colorful aspect of the Emerald Isle that is largely unexplored.
