Over 200 grandparents and supporters of St. Mary’s Dominican High School gathered for the annual Heritage Club Dinner. Together with the Sisters, Leadership, Administration, and others of the school community, the group enjoyed an evening of dining and visiting with friends. The event also featured a presentation by school President Dr. Cynthia Thomas about the science, technology, religion, engineering, arts and math – STREAM™ initiative. Next Spring Dominican will break ground for construction of a new science wing that will double the school’s current lab space, expand research capacity, and add a technology center.
“St. Mary’s Dominican High School’s commitment to religion, science and the humanities serves as a model for engaging the values of the Gospel while addressing the challenging questions that are posed though these academic areas. We truly believe that faith informs reason and immersion in the humanities enriches life,” Dr. Thomas told the group. Building upon Dominican’s academic strengths, she noted, “Dominican is in a unique position to benefit young women through STREAM™. As a Dominican Catholic school, with Veritas as our motto, we believe these academic disciplines, when explored through sound pedagogy and informed by the teachings of the Catholic Church, serve their highest purpose.”
