Dominican alum Dr. Aimée K. Thomas shared with Science Club members her work as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans. Aimée, a ’91 graduate, has an interest in promoting STEM education and environmental awareness through informal science education programs and research. She believes that teaching scientists methods to effectively communicate their research improves their ability to teach others to understand science and how it relates to the environment. She had received more than a half million dollars to fund her environmental education programs and has worked with over 10,000 students, ranging from kindergarten to graduate school in informal science settings.
