A Centenarian’s Celebration

Florence Grush Ward from St. Mary’s Dominican High School’s Class of 1933 celebrated her 100th birthday on January 21. She was the guest of honor at a monthly luncheon with Jesuit alumni that included her son Larry Ward, Jesuit Class of 1959. In a surprise visit at the gathering, Alumnae Director Celeste Anding Dominicanized the honoree with a Dominican is Proud of You sign and brought along a Dominican memory book from 1933. When asked what she attributed to her 100 years, Mrs. Ward credited healthy eating. Her daughter and granddaughters are also Dominican alumnae – Donna Ward Heim ’56, Debbie Heim Sachs ’78 and Darra Heim O’Keefe ’80.
