Dominibots ABSORB

The First Lego League 8th grade team, the Dominibots, created an acronym called ABSORB. The team developed a way to help students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) stay focused while studying. ABSORB – Activity, Breaks, Space, Organize, Rewards, and Bedtime was chosen. It identifies ways to enhance the study environment in order to study efficiently. When the Dominibots began researching ADHD websites, the amount of information was overwhelming. Dr. Ronald Cambias, a clinical psychologist, met with them to discuss ADHD causes, symptoms and treatments. Crissy Giacona, Robotics Coach, said the students wanted to create something that would be cool and exciting for their ADHD friends. “ABSORB was well received in class and opened up great conversations on this topic with the class.”
