St. Mary’s Dominican High School students Chloé Mendy, Elizabeth Wherritt, Claire Karcher, Emily Champagne and Mallory Grefer participated in the oratory competition hosted by Ecole Bilingue. The competition is for local high school French students ranging from one to four years of study, as well as students with immersion training. Students were required to recite a French poem, song or excerpt from memory and answers questions from a panel of native French speakers.
Eight French students from Dominican competed in both immersion and non-immersion.
Three students placed from French 3 and French 4 Advanced Placement. Immersion: Third Place – Claire Karcher; Second Place – Chloé Mendy; Non-immersion, three years of French Second Place -Mallory Grefer. These students were recently honored with certificates and received cash prizes by the Consul Général de France, Grégor Trumel, and those in charge of the competition, Cecile Andry and Brigitte Gomane of the Council of French Studies.
