On the last Saturday in February, a community of volunteers gathered at a New Orleans Cars and Coffee event at Carbine Motors in New Orleans to unveil a surprise for Matt Cole, a corporal in the Marine Corps who was severely injured in 2005 during his second tour of duty in Iraq. Cole owned a 1972 MGB in need of repairs. However, his injuries limited his ability to work on the car. An initial request for a tune-up and repair of a windshield grew into the Wounded Warrior Project for The British Motoring Club. Club members and volunteers helped with the car’s restoration.
St. Mary’s Dominican High School’s junior Madison Weber volunteered to reupholster the car’s seats. Although she had never done reupholstering before, she was ready for the challenge. She also helped with the windscreen water sealing.
