As part of their Freshmen Class Retreat, ninth graders spent Friday, September 25th reflecting on the themes of love and service. Students enjoyed Mass with Dominican Chaplain Fr. John Restrepo, O.P. and lunch along with their parents.
The retreat began with a powerful testimony from Mrs. Judy Klein ’78 who shared about coming to know the meaning of love as a “self gift” through caring for her late husband during the final months of his life. Students also participated in dynamic breakout sessions which included male and female psychology presented by Andree Ory ’07, love in relationships and dating presented by Christina Oldacre of Next Generation Clubs, an overview of Dominican’s service program, and guided Scripture meditation following Mary of Bethany reaching out to serve Christ.
One of the hallmarks of the day for the girls was the entire class played a role cooking a complete meal for the Metropolitan Center for Women and Children. From cutting onions to frosting cupcakes, everyone happily pitched in! At the end of the day, freshmen shared their beautiful insights from the retreat with one another. Looking forward to many more Class of 2019 retreats to come!
