Responding to the call for food donations as part of community support for East Jefferson General Hospital’s healthcare workers during the pandemic, Class of ’79 alumnae Mitzi Alario and Karen Andressen Copeland joined the Karing Krewe. The Karing Krewe, that also includes Dominican alumnae Janice Scott (’70), Laurie Beard (’82), and Debra Davis Hymel (’79), raises funds to provide lunch and dinner Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 20 nurses on a unit caring for patients with Covid-19. To date, Karing Krewe has raised more than $4,000 for this endeavor. The average cost of lunch or dinner for the staff is $75.
