My Dominican education has profoundly shaped my professional journey, instilling in me a spirit of excellence, fostered problem-solving skills, strong sense of responsibility, motivation and teamwork, qualities that are needed in my profession. Dominican’s emphasis on faith and service has enabled me to pursue career opportunities where these values intersect, allowing me to make a meaningful impact in our community and my place of employment. Through my leadership roles and extracurricular activities I engaged in at Dominican, I developed crucial skills that have helped me live by being a servant leader in my role as an Human Resources Professional. Most importantly, Dominican’s motto of “Veritas” has served as my guiding star, reinforcing the importance of truth and integrity in all aspects of my life.
When I started at Dominican, I only knew two people from my grammar school. Even though it was difficult in the beginning, the countless opportunities to join extracurriculars and activities allowed me to meet people and make life-long friends. So, my advice to you would be to get involved and truly experience Dominican.
Cherish each day at Dominican, for those few short years will continue to impact your entire future! The motto, Veritas, has been my guiding star, reinforced by the curriculum and lessons of love from fabulous faculty.
When I think of Dominican, I think of five wonderful years of my life that prepared me spiritually, academically, and socially. I was in the first 8th grade class and have maintained great friendships from that class. I think of Veritas, black and white, and a close-knit community that pushed and supported me to always do my best.
I was very involved in extracurricular activities at Dominican and held officer positions as well. Having that experience early in life has definitely helped me in my career now. As an HR Manager, I am in a position to provide a great onboarding process for any new hires coming to our company, and I also oversee all training programs. Having my leadership roles at Dominican has given me a head start to my career now.
Say YES. This is the time to say yes to all the dances, all the classes, all the clubs, all the sports, just DO IT! I am so grateful for all that I learned and the friendships that I made from being so involved throughout my time at DHS.
Many years later, I still remember the wonderful memories of my time at Dominican. The camaraderie that was formed at Dominican still shines strong with my fellow classmates of 1999 and the soccer team. Through my Dominican experience, I learned how to be a supportive, encouraging teammate and how to win or lose with both integrity and respect. It truly was an honor to wear a Dominican jersey on the field. A Toast of Praise to the school I love!
Without Dominican, I would never be where I am today. I discovered my passion for dance as a Deb here at DHS, which is exactly where God has led me. Creating and fostering strong relationships with the Deb coaches has now brought me to choreograph award-winning routines for the Debs. Five years after graduating, I became the first-ever JV Debs Dance Team coach at my alma mater. It is truly a full-circle moment.
