Foreign Languages Awards and Honors

At Academic Honor Day, students were recognized for their accomplishments in the Foreign Languages.

French

This year, students in French I Honors, French II Honors, French III Honors, and French IV AP participated in the National French Contest, The Grand Concours. Students were tested on grammar, reading, and audio.

Andrea Garcés – recipient of the Les Prix d’Excellence de L’Union Francaise Plaque for exceptional achievement in the French language by a student who exhibits and enthusiasm for the language and culture.


Greek

Greek students from 183 schools throughout the world took the National Greek Exam. Six Greek students merited ribbons and certificates this year.

Elizabeth Champagne was recognized for achieving five (5) gold medals on the National Latin Exam.

Lillian Cerise and Caroline Bickerton were recognized for achieving four (4) gold medals on the National Latin Exam.

The Classical Association of the Middle West & South (CAMWS) recognized Clare Plunkett and Lillian Cerise as recipients of the CAMWS Award for Outstanding Accomplishment in Classical Studies.

Spanish

The National Spanish Examinations are the most widely used tests of Spanish in the United States. The examinations are recognized by administrative and teaching associations and organizations at the local, state, and national levels. The mission of the National Spanish Examination is to recognize student achievement and to promote language proficiency in the study of Spanish.

Sociedad Espanola, Jose Luis Banos Award is presented to Victoria Liu for excellence in the Spanish Language.

The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, Louisiana Chapter presented the following awards to Louisiana students based on their performance on the National Spanish Exam in the bilingual category awards.
