Congratulations to senior Cole Pittman who was recognized as a Scholar Athlete during the November 5 New Orleans Saints home game. Cole is active in several programs, including serving as Vice President of the Student Council Executive Board and a member of the Varsity Softball Team.

This year, the New Orleans Saints and Enterprise Rent-A-Car partnered to develop a Scholar Athlete Program that recognizes two high school student-athletes at a Saints home game throughout the 2017 season for their accomplishments in the classrooms, in their respective sports, and in their communities. Also recognized at the November home game was Mason Scioneaux of Riverside Academy. At the end of the Saints football season, the 16 Scholar Athlete winners will be honored at an awards banquet in the spring at the Saints facility.

Jason Trosclair, Director of the Saints Youth Programs, said this inaugural year the program has drawn nominations from around the state. Selected honorees are presented on the field, prior to the start of a home game. “These are outstanding students who are recognized for their character, leadership, sportsmanship and academic accomplishments,” Trosclair said.

The program is open to student-athletes participating in any sport, regardless of the time of the year when the sport is played. Students must have a 3.0 Grade Point Average or higher to be eligible for the program. Each winner receives two game tickets, two pre-game field passes, and are featured on the Saints website and all Saints’ social media platforms.
