Dominican Retreat A Day of Prayer, Reflection, and Community

In prayer, reflection, and community, St. Mary’s Dominican High School personnel gathered on campus for their January 3 retreat. Opening the retreat, President Dr. Cynthia A Thomas, OPA spoke about the vocation of laity in Dominican Catholic Education, noting, “The Dominican sisters along with their lay collaborators have prepared us and their schools for the future. The role of the laity is to be credible witnesses of the Gospel for our students and to each other. We are fortunate to be in a place where we can grow in our faith. Here we are allowed to do the good that God calls us to do. I believe all of us are here where God wants us to be.”

Mass in Our Lady Queen of the Rosary Chapel was celebrated by Rev. Peter Damian Harris, OP.  It was followed by Adoration, Benediction, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  In the afternoon, Dr. Maureen Wright, OP, Vice President of Dominican Catholic Identity gave an engaging  presentation on the Bible verse John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes him might not perish but have eternal life.”  Following her presentation, Dr. Wright led everyone in a guided reflection. The retreat closed with recitation of The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
