The Salutatorian is the Honor Graduate who has achieved the second highest cumulative grade point average in her class. This year, two students have merited this honor:
Grace Abigail Chategnier and Abigail Elizabeth Nuccio
The Mother Mary Magdalen O’Farrell, O.P. Service Award is presented to the student who has been recognized for her outstanding and dedicated service to St. Mary’s Dominican High School. Dominican life and growth are mirrored in her reflection of the school’s philosophy by belief in God and respect for the dignity of all human beings. This year, the students receiving this award are Olivia Sandra Hernandez and Anastasia Maria Redmann.
The Alumnae Association was inaugurated on April 30,1901 to support the ministry of Catholic education. The Alumnae Award is presented to the student selected by her classmates as one who represents Dominican Spirit. Dominican’s motto: “To Praise, To Bless, To Preach” is an integral part of her life as is her commitment to truth, VERITAS. This award was renamed by the Alumnae Association as the Sr. Mary Ambrose Reggio, O.P. Alumnae Award. Caroline McCall, Class of ‘09, and President of the Alumnae Association will present this year’s alumnae award to: Jovie Celeste Leingang.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians, America’s oldest Irish Catholic Fraternal Organization, started in May 1836. The members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians greeted the seven Dominican sisters from St. Mary’s Convent in Cabra, Ireland when they arrived in New Orleans on November 5, 1860. This year we present the Ancient Order of Hibernians award to the senior who exemplifies the motto of the AOH: friendship, unity, and Christian charity. The recipient is selected by administration, faculty, and students. Congratulations to Mia Catherine Rabalais.
The American Legion Award is presented to the graduating senior who possesses the essential qualities of leadership, honor, courage, patriotism and service to school and community. The recipient receives a framed leadership award certificate, a bronze leadership medallion, and a check for $250 from Post 307. This award was voted on by faculty and students. The 2026 recipient of Dominican High School’s American Legion Leadership award is Jovie Celeste Leingang.
The Veritas Award is the most prestigious award presented to a St. Mary’s Dominican High School graduation senior. The recipient of this award demonstrates exemplary understanding of the Dominican Charism. Following the example of St. Dominic de Guzman, founder of the Dominican Order, the Veritas Award recipient faithfully strives to seek Truth through prayer, study, community, and service. She preaches the Truth of the Gospel through the example of her life and calls forth the best in others.
The award depicts the lighted cupola above the Veritas shield on the Veritas Tower and is placed on top of a blue base in honor of our Blessed Mother. The Dominican Sisters from Cabra, Ireland, who founded our school in 1860, chose the name St. Mary’s Dominican, in honor of our Blessed Mother, Mary.
This year, two graduates have been selected by the Leadership, Administration, and faculty to receive the Veritas Award: Leah Lynn Gilmore and Anastasia Maria Redmann.
