DominiCAN Scarecrow in the Mardi Gras Spirit

Channeling the festive spirit of Mardi Gras, the “DominiCAN You Throw Me Something Mister” scarecrow was the St. Mary’s Dominican High School National Art Honor Society (NAHS) entry for the Fall Garden Festival Scarecrow Contest at the New Orleans Botanical Garden in City Park.

Next to the DominiCAN Scarecrow are NAHS members (from left) Carly Buuck, Kennedy Sarrazin, and Gabriella Cotton with art teacher Jennifer Frosch.

The annual scarecrow contest invites individuals, families, businesses, civic organizations and schools to participate and create a one-of-a-kind scarecrow. Entry categories are traditional, funny, and scary. Through October 31st, the scarecrows will be on display on the garden’s Scarecrow Trail, located near and inside the Historic Train Garden.
