Alumna Sylvia Mullen ’18 Talks About Killifish Research to 8th Grade Science Class

Students in Mrs. Crissy Gicona’s 8th grade science class welcomed guest speaker Sylvia Mullen ’18 a senior honors student at the University of New Orleans who shared findings from her research project for the past two years in Honors Biology. The topic was, “Evaluating Methods To Determine the Maximum Oxygen Consumption by the Gulf Killifish, Fundulus Grandis.” Her honors thesis is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science, with University High Honors and Honors in Biology. She shared with the class that she placed the fish in a swim tunnel in order to record their oxygen update.
