Emma Hensley Taylor ’12 Guest Speaker for Engineering Class

Students in Mr. Kenneth Lannes Engineering Class welcomed guest speaker Emma Hensley Taylor ’12 who touched on a range of civil engineering career tracks. The 2017 graduate of the University of New Orleans, where she earned a degree in civil engineering degree, also holds a Professional Engineering License. In order to have the PE seal, engineers must complete several steps to ensure their competency. This includes a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program, passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, completing four years of progressive engineering experience under a PE, and passing the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.

Mrs. Taylor also covered the importance of getting internships prior to graduation and showed the class some of the new construction, renovations, and forensic engineering projects she has worked on. “Whether or not they become engineers, they all have a bright future ahead of them,” she said.
