Dominican Senior Carol Alley Offered $1.1 Million in Scholarships

St. Mary’s Dominican High School senior Carol Alley has received offers of $1.1 million in scholarships from 14 universities: College of Charleston, Belmont University, Loyola University New Orleans, Rhodes College, University of the South, Loyola University Chicago, Fordham University, Kansas State University, Louisiana State University, Seton Hall University, Spring Hill College, Culinary Institute of America, University of Alabama, and University of Mississippi. She is the daughter of Mrs. Tara Tonry Alley and Mr. Brian Alley of River Ridge.

A recognized AP Scholar, she is a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Dominican’s Drama Club, Pro-Life Club, Christian Leadership Council, Junior Classical League, and Craft Club. A member of the Dominican Band and Drum Major, she earned a Superior rating in the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) Solo and Ensemble Festival (2020-2021). Also, a Dominican Choir member, she achieved a Superior rating in the LMEA Vocal and Ensemble Festival (2019).

Starting in 2018, she led Happy Feet at Dominican that annually collects hundreds of pairs of socks for the homeless. Additional volunteerism includes Second Harvest Food Bank, helping with organizing supplies and the distribution of warm meals and groceries to those in need. She also volunteered at Holy Name of Jesus Bible Camp and the James Singleton Charter School camp for elementary school children.
