Dominican Senior Kennedi Steele Awarded Posse Foundation Scholarship

St. Mary’s Dominican High School senior Kennedi Steele was awarded a Posse Foundation Scholarship during ceremonies at the National World War II Museum. She is among 51 honorees out of 676 applicants and will be attending Villanova University as a member of Posse 6. The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership potential. Posse Scholars receive full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities.

“During our Dynamic Assessment Process, Kennedi demonstrated admirable leadership, intellect, and a commitment to making a difference,” said Sherdren Burnside, Director, the Posse Foundation.

At Dominican, Steele is president of the Science National Honor Society. She is in her second year serving as Vice President of the Spanish Honor Society. Other memberships include the National English Society and the National Honor Society. She has been a camp counselor at Dominican’s summer camps and a coach for First Tee of Greater New Orleans, teaching children about the game of golf while incorporating valuable life lessons. For the past six years, she has been playing the piano and wants to continue doing this throughout college with the goal of using this skill to teach children.
