In observance of International Day of Peace, a prayer service created by the Peace and Nonviolence Committee of the Dominican Sisters of Peace was shared with the St. Mary’s Dominican High School community. For the morning daily prayer, Principal Mrs. Carolyn Favre gave an opening prayer for “a world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.” Student preachers shared reflections during the afternoon prayer and the Fine Arts Survey class made pinwheels of peace, signed with their messages of peace.
The International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, was first celebrated in 1982. In 2013, the Secretary General of the United Nations, dedicated the day to peace education, the key preventive means to reduce war sustainably.
