Dominican’s Happy Feet Drive Collects 822 Pairs of Socks for Ozanam Inn

St. Mary’s Dominican High School’s Happy Feet Drive collected 822 pairs of socks. Dominican’s drive was spearheaded by freshman Lourdes Maristany. Dominican was among ten area schools that participated in Happy Feet. The socks will be donated to Ozanam Inn which has served the homeless and underserved of Greater New Orleans since 1955.

Maristany has been helping with Happy Feet since she was in the 4th grade. “I work with the starter of the Happy Feet, Ingeborg Hyde, as well as two to three other students each year to organize the drive,” she said. “Together we reach out to other schools to inform them about Happy Feet and encourage them to participate. To date, we have collected over 15,000 pairs of socks!”
